isadora is the name of a live performance software tool. it’s object orientated programming language allows the user to create patches of actors to realise ideas and creative visions. the tool works with pictures, video, 3d objects, human interface device input, midi communication, open sound control communication and sound.
isadora affords me creative space to play and try things out, often with ideas taking sometime to germinate. reoccurring ideas include how to make something that gives me back the improvisational creative freedom of operating a laser at a rave. somewhere sometime i think i need to be able to visually interpret musical forms in real time as this has been one of the most enjoyable things that i’ve done.
along the journey with isadora i revisited a teenage creation. as a teenager i had a bbc computer running basic on which i programmed a system that kept score for a game of darts, you can read about my isadora version here
other research topics have been how to use isadora for making the choice system for a k theatre project, to realise an installation based on a badminton match with four channels of audio, a playful installation where viewers blue tooth a photo into an evolving slideshow and the most recent investigation that of an installation based on a squash match with four channels of audio and a visual representation.
